Phillip Lopez brings years of casual dining expertise to New Orleans CBD, and excited to continue developing innovative menus. His experiences include Executive Chef, Co-Owner and Creative Director of Root, Square Root, Root2, The Test Kitchen and Part & Parcel Delicatessen in New Orleans, Louisiana. Raised by a military family, Phillip spent his childhood living in Puerto Rico and Europe, including Germany, Holland, and France.
He landed his first culinary job with Chef John Besh after moving to New Orleans. He was able to train under celebrated Chef Michel Richard of Citronelle, after he was displaced to Washington, D.C. after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Several months later, Phillip re-joined Chef Besh in New Orleans and worked throughout the restaurant group. Lopez became Executive Chef of Restaurant Rambla in 2010, a contemporary restaurant with Spanish influences.
Lopez has been a Louisiana Cookin’ Magazine “Chef to Watch” (2011) and in 2012, he was Eater New Orleans “Chef of the Year,” as well as a Star Chefs “Rising Star Chef.” Most recently Phillip was named to Gambit Weekly’s list of “40 Under 40.”
